50 rods in a B

I bought a set of 50 rods to convert to the insert bearings when
I get to the engine rebuild. They're mismatched and both are
marked for the #2 cylinder. I would guess they're marked for a
a reason. If so is there a proper up/down orientation for oiling
or is it just to keep the cap matched to the rod? Any education
is appreciated. I plan to have them weighed and balanced
along with new bushings, bolts and bearings.

I have no idea if 50 rods will work in a B, but I had my hands on my 50 rods today, and I found the stamped sides were up when I opened it up. 1 was on the left side - 2 on the right.

50 rods will work in a late B. Both rods marked 2 won't matter because they are both identical. When you assemble them in your tractor the numbers go up. You could use a puncture wound punch and do the 1 dot 2 dot mark on the rods after you get them in your tractor to designat which cylinder they are used in, but that realy won't mater till the next guy tears it apart.

Make SURE the journals are Round enough for Insert Bearings..
Babbit bearings will work with far out-of-round Journal that Inserts will not tolerate..

Ron..

I plan a complete tear down and take the engine to a machine shop. Getting it back together the right way seems much more difficult than any car engine with the limited and scattered info in the service manual.
