4620 Powershifts

Does anyone know exactly how many 4620 powershifts were built vs syncros? I'm seeing a big discrepency in the figures. According to Benjamin Hain's book, there were 3,656 syncros and 3,272 powershifts.

Tractordata on the other hand, (I know they are wrong a lot) says 5,045 (PowerShift) and 1,883 (Syncro). Wow. that has to be way off. Maybe what they really meant is 5,045 syncro and 1,883 powershift??

Those numbers keep showing up but used differently. In the book, it shows a total of 5,045 4620s built in 1971 and 1,833 built in 1972. Did tractordata take the build totals use them wrong or what? At any rate, who do we believe. Richard??

The info I have has 6928 total with 5045 S/R and 1883 being P.S. .I don't see many P.S. advertised. I would assume there are some with standard options in that total.

Tractordata is wrong and unreliable a lot and the 20 series book you are going off of is a misprint most likely. Common sense would make you question why would sales drop that much from one year to the next. This is the 4620 we are talking about, not the 4520.

It has been said that production ended early in 72 due to the 4630 coming out. If not for that I'm sure a lot more would have been produced.

Production of the 4620 ended maybe two months earlier then usual. Last 4620 shipped was on June 30th 1972 which means production probably ended sometime earlier in June maybe even late May. Gen II tractors were introduced in late Aug. 2 or 3 months of no production is not going to account for the 3,162 tractors which is the difference between 1971 and 1972 if going by your numbers. Once again here it is. Look at the serial number breaks. That alone should give you a rough estimate of how many were built each year.

Interesting. Here's how it is shown in the publication I have. I knew something had to be up, but like to believe printed text would be correct.

Probably should have been configured something like this instead..Makes more sense anyhow.
