30 and 40 Series convertible fronts

I just sold my 4030 with a convertible front end and it got me wondering how common they actually are. I haven't been around many but in talking to some people in certain parts of the country they seemed to be very common back in the day. Are they "rare" just because only certain parts of the country ordered most of them or is there just a couple hundred of each model out there with the convertible front? Thanks

The Deere Dealer that "use to be" in the Marietta Ohio area was know to order and sell many 40,42 and 4430's with convertible front ends. That would be in the far South East corner of Ohio..our dealership never sold any this way..I can think of only 2 in my area a 4030 and a 4230..and they were brought in latter on..as used..

I hate to ask but I don't know what a convertible front end is?I have only seen narrow front or wide front or single front.

Tractors that could accept tricycle frt ends had a different(convertible) steering motor than regular wide axle tractors

Regular wide frt steering motor aka frt support

Convertible wide frt axle required this pivot bracket also.

Larry the "convertible" fronts were those on 30 and 40 series tractors so they could be switched from narrow fronts to wide front ends, unless the tractor was ordered with this option you could not put a narrow front on them. The 10's and 20's were different as you could go ether way with them from the beginning. On the 30's and 40's with out the convertible option there was no bolt pattern to mount the narrow front to.

I have never seen a 40 with one, according to the parts book it was only available in a 4040, not any of the other 40's.
