2550 clutch

Having an issue with my 2550 w/sgb. Last summer the clutch was starting to drag and not want to fully release. It has had trouble with the slave cyl leaking so I was blaming it and the master. After replacing both the clutch still wouldn't release. I got to looking and it appears the slave does push on the clutch lever but not enough for it to disengage. The lever itself looks like it's all the way forward like the clutch should be disengaged.

Would this be the clutch facings came apart and wedged up between the flywheel and pressure plate? I suppose I need to do a split?

Pressure bleed them from the bottom up is the only way to ensure they are bled properly, that is way easier than trying to force air that is up in the master cylinder down to the slave by pumping the pedal

Here on this pic is the pedal at rest, all the way out. To the left is the pedal stop.

In this pic is the pedal pushed as far down as it will go. As you can see it doesn't go down to the stop. When I open the bleeder it will.

I believe there is something messed up inside. Clutch coming apart wedging the pressure plate out, keeping the fingers retracted. Bad throwout fork. Or a bad throwout bearing, seems like I should hear that.

Am I crazy?

Have you greased grease fitting(parts key 31) regularly? If pressure plate fingers were retracted that would allow clutch pedal to travel farther with less resistance.

Yes I have.

I did have it into the dealer two years ago for a internal leak that turned out to be in the hi/lo. So they was in there and I assume had that shaft and bearing out.

I don't suppose there is an inspection cover somewhere? Would be nice to take a peek without having to disassemble the thing.

I think I found the problem. Some dummy put the slave cyl on behind the mount instead of in front. So the cyl didn't have enough travel. Good thing there is a snap ring in there or it would have blown out guts out the end.

A side note I am glad I messed up and went looking. There are two of those round covers and one is missing. Would make a nice place for a mouse to nest at in the winter. Got one ordered and then I can finish. "I hope"
