Early G engine problem

I need some advice. My early G froze up and broke the head. I had it repaired and put back together. When you turn flywheel over it will go part way and then stop like it contacts something. It was turning over OK before head repair. Yesterday I was trying to turn it over and same resistance. When I forced it (by hand) I heard a pop and now it turns over like normal. What should I look at? It has always been inside with muffler covered. Any ideas?

check your valves and push rods also rocker arms you may have had a stuck valve and broke something when you turned it all the way over

Are you sure you didn't leave something laying in a cylinder before you put the head back on

Did you change the oil? Might have water in crankcase and the oil pump was froze up causing the coupler by camshaft to snap.

That was what I was thinking also. I did not change the oil. I have seen that little square tube coupler snap before.

Thanks. There was a smalll amount of light surface rust in cylinder walls so cleaned them up nicely. The pistons would rotate as they should when putting head back on.

Thanks. I had all the valves out when head was fixed so they went back into same holes and springs and keepers were checked. Push rods were put back in and checked. Rocker assembly was installed and checked. That is what is so confusing. I am starting to think about the water getting into oil somehow and freezing causing the oil pump coupler to break.

Perhaps a dumb thing . A pushrod could have been out of the cam follower and bent or broke the push rod and/or the adjusting bolt . Also any ice that would break the Cyl. head could also break the block not letting the piston go by .
