Late model 3020 loader plumbing

I'm trying to plumb a late model 3020 for a loader. I plan on using the filter housing as the return but I'm still not sure about how to connect to the supply side. There is plenty of information for the early models but all I've been able to find is that the connection is made on the line under the platform for the late models. Does anyone know if this is correct and if so what is the size of the threads or the JD part number for the tee in the line?

Remove the line from the tractor and take it to a reputable hydraulic shop that works with tubing. This is a 5/8" tube, have them cut the tube and remove enough material to place a tee inline (5/8" JIC tee) using the drop side to feed the loader. If they can flare 5/8" tube they will have a tee (most likely less cost than Deere).

Option B is to replace that line with hoses and a tee, but usually costs more if you stick with the 5/8" line. I would not recommend downsizing to 1/2" since it will restrict flow.

I used the hardline method on my 3020 and the hose method on another guys 2520; both work fine and are clean. If you put a quick connect under the platform it is hard to tell it is tapped when the loader is off.

There is a power behond block that sandwiches between the remote coupler valve and the tractor. It gives you a supply line for the valve just like tapping into the line by the brake pedals did on the early models.

This is the auxiliary outlet(parts key 3) that ET referred to.

JD dealer R54312 Manifold - AUXILIARY OUTLET ADD 274.88 USD

A&I dealer AR71331 - $170.00

ET and TxJim have got you taken care of. Power Beyond plate is the way to do it. Install the plate underneath your Left Hand SCV. This gives you a port for pressure supply and a spot for return. You can just run rubber hoses up to your loader valve.

There was a guy selling a Power Beyond kit on ebay for several less dollars than Deere. I'm not sure if he still is or not.

Be sure you select a closed center valve to be used on your 3020.

If tractor already has 'factory" Ported filter return cover, good .. If you plan on buying one there a spendy part.. And in my option not worth inconvenience at filter changes, and drilling & taping one is unnecessary labor.. a simple cheap tee at rockshaft return line does same thing.... For Pressure line a tee a front of rockshaft line [at fitting on priority valve under cowl] works to bring a pressure hose to loader valve.. Power beyond block (auxiliary outlet) work great too, cost a little more..

Something that I notice that I rarely see mentioned is your valve options for your loader. I notice that a lot of guys like the joystick and a lot like the conventional loader valve.

Personally, I have used both and like the conventional valve on open station tractors w/o LH reverser and joystick on tractors with LH reverser. This allows me to shift and steer with one hand and run the loader with the other. On a 3020 you have to shift with right hand and likewise I place the valve on the left. For me the inconvenience of the RH entry is offset by machine operation; while loading spreader, the bucket never stops moving unlike the neighbor with his joystick, he has to take his hand of the joystick to shift.

It really comes down to personal preference and you should give it some thought prior to mounting the valve as it will affect where you run the hoses on the tractor and place disconnects.

I got so used to getting on and off the RH side that I sometimes forget that you can get on the LH when the loader is off the tractor.

Not to blow this thread up, but I just bought a 4030 and wanting to put a joy stick and mid mount on it. What is A&I dealer?
I know ,dumb question

newgenjdcollector,

I assume you meant late 20 series.

Horseteacher,

Since the tin has to be cut then I would recommend removing the tube and replace with hoses if you want to be able to restore the tractor someday, since tin work is not exactly cheap and it is getting harder to find good originals to replace damaged tin. Then you would only have to remove the hoses and install the original tube.

What is A&I dealer?Bob

JD owns A&I so JD dealers can order A&I parts PLUS there are short line, used equip & technicians who are A&I dealers that can order A&I parts.

Thanks for all the ideas/suggestions. I'm going with the power beyond block especially since I got one one on eBay for $90 + free shipping. Seems the simplest way plus I already have the closed valve joystick.
