Jhon I may have explained it wrong i did not order a new switch the resistor iam talking about is on my old key switch if iam right the there is already a wire from switch to positive side of coil and dist is a prestolite been conv to neg ground with alt Jhon thanks for any help I made need mor info as I go along iam not that good at wiring

On the old original switch YES I believe there is already the ignition ballast. Originally it used a 6 volt coil so the ballast was used to drop 12 down to 6 volts. HOWEVER if you convert to a full true 12 volt coil NO Ballast required, that ballast is no longer used. If its now NEG ground, wire from switch to coils + and coils - goes to ground via old points or a new elec switch.
