3020 gas throttle linkage

I got my 3020 running good and looking good, except I can't get the throttle to hold past 1700 rpm. It will run 2100 if you hold the throttle lever down hard, but there is no way the friction disk will keep it there. It is like I'm fighting against a spring to open it up. I tried some adjustments and checked the obvious things, but now I am stumped. Anyone have suggestions?

I suggest you get the manual and adjust the throttle linkages to start. There is a procedure in the manual. Paul

I got the CD, it covers both the 3010 and 3020. These are copyrighted so I cannot copy and send. I would suggest you see your JD dealer and order the manual on CD. It's pretty handy to have if you have one of these tractors.

I did look in the trouble shooting section for your issue but nothing looked related. Therefore, I suggest the throttle linkage setup procedure first.

There is an anchor pin that could be missing on the brake disc, it's about 1/4"X1", when it's broke out you get what your describing, you can get on Deere parts .com and get a picture of the linkage, that pin does not show up but you can see where it goes..in #18,,in the little fork of the disc.

Figured it out! A "clip" on the foot throttle linkage was turned down such that it hit against the transmission case and stopped full linkage motion. Now have the opposite problem--how to keep engine from red-lining if throttle lever is pulled wide open!

Tim: Does that pin go into the bracket below #17 depiction? Don't see how the fork would retain the pin unless the pin was secured somewhere. It also only shows one of those disks with the fork, should there be another on the other side of the bracket?
