would like to know how to set float on my model a. 1948. just bought it have starter working tore apart cleaned mag now it bench fires. carb was off but there took apart to clean just would like to adjust now.

Don't have the foggiest idea, but on a different color tractor, the carb float out of the box is pre-bent to just the right angle, just install. You might check, if you can, before you start bending tabs and things.

Turn the float bowl upside down and measure the float, should be 3/8" down from what would be the top of the bowl.

It's tough to measure with a ruler, so I simply lay a drill bit of the right diameter on the top surface and roll it back and forth between the float/top and adjust accordingly..

(quoted from post at 07:54:41 02/28/15) Turn the float bowl upside down and measure the float, should be 3/8" down from what would be the top of the bowl.
For the DLTX 71 on my 50 A, set the float at 5/16+, not quite 3/8", then with the bowl installed and fuel to the carburetor, attached clear tubing to the bowl drain connection and the fuel level was 3/4" below the main body flange.
