430s 3 pt lift slow and no power since i changed fluid

so i changed the fluid in my touch o matic and put in sae 20 and it seemed fine when i did it in the summer but i went to use it the other day (20 deg) it is real slow , non responsive and will not lift much at all. what fluid should i put back in

I run straight 20 weight in my MT TOM. Plowed snow the other day at -15 and it worked fine after things warmed up a bit. Right off it is quite sluggish and I usually give the tractor a good 15-20 minutes to warm up before I start using it.

Agree with [b:654c4848f0]hotflashjr[/b:654c4848f0] in letting the tractor warm up a bit before using it.

Here in NE Texas we don't have very much severely cold could weather, but the Touch-O-Matic on a couple of tractors works slow until it warms up.

We use the recommended 20W in our M, MTs, and 40s.

I did let the tractor warm up before I started plowing snow but it was still really bad after I had been plowing for 45 min to an hour??

yes, it should be full because I haven't used it much since I changed the fluid and every now and then a little spills back out of the filler neck while using it??

Detergent oil or non detergent? It it's puking out the filler neck it's getting air in the system and possibly foaming the oil. Check every line fitting from front to back.

Should be isn't checking it.

I too plow with a M , it's a tad slow @ -22°
but is OK after 10-15 minutes of. But I've
had to park the M & use the 60, M isn't big
nuff to plow now......

also, when implement is raised it is constantly creeping down a few inches and raises back up. Ive also noticed several leaks now and i wonder if there was thicker oil it when i got it

update... fluid was low because of puking out the filler neck and it appears to be foamy or milky. i don't see any problems with the lines up to the pump or connections. any help on finding out where , if air is getting in system??

At this point you may want to flush it with kerosene or diesel. Drain all you can from the drain in the rear of the housing. Raise the front of the tractor to get as much as you can. Fill the TOM with kero and run at idle for a very few minutes. Drain all the kero out and replace with NON DETERGENT oil. I use 39 wt because that is all I can find locally. It is a little stiff at -10º but warms up quickly.

The creeping down and going up is probably a check valve not closing completely. The kero flush may fix it. Mine started acting up off and on and then mostly on. I added a can of Sea Foam to the TOM oil and the problem went away. I don't usually believe in magic in a can, but this has worked wonders for me several times with stick engine valves and gummy carburetors

i flushed it with kerosene in the summer and then filled it with some 20weight. now i seem to have the puking problem. it will hold an implement up overnight. after toping off , it will puke every time it goes full up or full down until it runs itself low on fluid. i plowed snow for about an hour this morning and by the time i was done it was a little slower going up

Every connection on your return tube (big) has a seal. At least one of them is allowing air to enter. If tightening them didn't help it's time to replace them all.

I will check them all out. thanks. I actually assumed the small line was the return so thanks for clearing that up. makes more sense when I think about the type of connections that are made in the tubes as to which one would be able to handle more psi
