Was 7.50-20 tires a common option on a 4420?

Hey all,

I was at a neighbor's place Saturday, and he had a couple 7.50-20 3 rib tires on 6 bolt rims leaning up against the shed. They came off his JD 4420 combine. I wanted to buy them, but he wants to keep them in case he ever sells his combine (he's Mennonite, so it's on steel right now).

So, I called a couple combine boneyards today and they say the 4420s typically had 10.00-16s. Was 7.50-20 an optional size, and when would one get them versus the 10.00-16s? I hardly ever see 7.50-20s, but would like a set for cultivating.

That size was, I believe, the standard tire for that combine or possibly an optional size. While most did come with 11:00-16's it was not the only size tire available. Odds are this one was purchased with the base tires knowing they would come off anyway. Mike

He only moved here 15 years ago, so all of his older equipment was used when he bought it. It looks like the tires are loaded with fluid, so someone used them. I talked with him again today and he said he'd trade me if I can't find any others.

He has all the rubber to put back on all his tractors. He has 3 Deutzs a newer John Deere MFWD, and a 320 skid steer on steel. Really good guy.
