Mecum Auction Nov. 7-8 2014 on RFD TV this AM.

Who was the owner of the rare LP tractors. That guy and his wife looked a little too young to have amassed a collection like that. I know it is old news but were these tractors as good as they looked?

According to friend of mine they very nice and they had been offered more than what they netted at the end.Every one had two cylinders on rockshaft,6 weights per wheel and a full set of front with top weight which I have only seen in pictures. Most tractors such as 4020P.S. and 1206s were off 15%+.$3.75 corn might have something to do with it plus as we lose the older collectors there isn't the interest to replace them.I love the ones I used to have and others want to preserve history others rare ones.

I saw that sale too and I wondered just how much if anything that young couple made selling those "Super Built Up" tractors at that auction. Seemed like at best there would be only two or three serious bidders on each tractor. (Guess that's better than just one..) It had to have taken a lot of time and money to round up all those weights and hydraulic attatchments to put on those tractors. However built up those tractors were, they appeared to be about as attractive (except I'm not a chrome exhaust pipe man) as you could get them...sure a lot of work in the cosmetic appearence...maybe the wife did a lot of that.....

That auction that's on RFD-TV now was from last November, first weekend IIRC.

Next auction is APRIL 10&11, 2015. MISSISSIPPI VALLEY FAIR GROUNDS, West Locust Street, Davenport, Ia

I wasn't sure why anybody would want a "trailer queen" tractor with 2500 pounds of weights on it. But the one 730 LP Wheatland brought over $57,000.
