4520 fuel economy???

Thinking about using an early 70's 4520 with powershift for our second loader tractor and also to pull hay rake. I like the heavy frame for the heavy round bales but wondering how much fuel she'll burn doing this light type of work. I have a 725 loader to put on it and do not plan on pushing or digging with it. How would it compare to a 4020 doing this type of work? Thanks.

About the same as engine is similar but turbo charged.More H.P. but should be a little more efficient but the 6in longer frame will make it not as handy. At least wide front will probably never be a problem

Do a Google or Bing search for "tractordata", then search for John Deere, then 4520, and you'll get the pages TxJim posted. Now hit the bottom line, the letters "PDF.file" and that brings up the actual official report filed by the Nebraska tractor test lab. They took part load tests down to 28 HP and recorded fuel use. Read the whole report. They're interesting!

Be careful and make sure you get the correct 4520, not the new little "imported as parts from India and assembled in Ga" thing.

If your 4520 is original fuel setting it won't be as bad as those fueled up. Will still use more than a 4020.
Most were fueled up as they were pretty weak for their weight.
