Hydraulic pump search

Brother has a mid 80's JD 2040 4x4 tractor. This tractor was made for export, and I believe it to be the same tractor as the domestic 2550, or 2555. Looking for a good used hydraulic pump. Really can't afford new right now. Anyone know of a salvage yard specializing in Deere, where a person can look. Thank u all in advance.

Many of the problems with the hydraulic systems on these tractors are NOT due to an issue with the main hydraulic pump. Can you give us some description of what is happening on the tractor?

I will need to find out some more details this weekend. What I was told is the pump no longer worked. It was taken to a Deere dealership checked to be checked out. He was charged 350 dollars, and told it needed another pump. I'll ask more question and post back. Thank u

Several frt pumps have been replaced to find out that frt pump "wasn't the hydraulic problem".

$350 to disassemble & inspect a JD hyd piston pump that has been carried in to dealership is very high.

I agree with others as to what's wrong with old pump. If housing isn't cracked or bores worn out pump should be rebuildable.
