Good tractor shows to attend

Out of curiosity I was wondering what you fellow YTers recommend as far as good tractor shows to attend. Was thinking while i'm younger and have less obligations I would like to travel to some of the better tractor shows across the midwest. I prefer John Deere but also like the working shows involving combines and such. John Deere Expo is one that i do attend. I'm located in Southeast Nebraska. Thanks in advance.

My favorite show is the Half Centry of Progress show at Rantual ILL. It's every other year and this is the year on August 26..I'm getting things ready to go with now...

I am in northeast NE. This year LeSueur MN is featuring JD should be a good show, it is the end of August. Madison SD is also a really good show I think its the same weekend as LeSueur.

. I am originally from humboldt so even closer. I am interested to see some of these replies, I would like to start going to further away shows as well. If you run into a JD H with duals that is mine. ;)

The Miami Valley Steam thresher show is excellent. It's at past time park in Plain City Ohio. July 16, 17, 18, 19. This year they are featuring Massy Harris and Ferguson. They provide camping and plenty of parking. Also the old time farming festival at Centerburg Ohio is very good.

It's only every two years but it's this year. HALF CENTURY OR PROGRESS. RANTOUL ILL

Do a search, they have there own website for info. It's probably the biggest show in the country.

Working show. Combining corn and beans, then plowing.

You can also do the air force museum on the same property as the Half Century of Progress, or at least it was open last time I attended.

Western Minnesota Steam Threshers Reunion at Rollag, MN...Labor Day weekend. Stearns County Pioneer Club, Albany, MN. Sept 18-19-20.

Butterfield, MN has a good show in the second half of August. Rollag, MN has a huge show Labor Day weekend.

I also likeum the John Deeres, but at a lot of shows you can't see them for the fancy rope surrounding the tractor. Seems that the JD folks are in the majority of doing that.

Not so far east of you is the Old Thresher's Reunion at Mt. Pleasant, IA held for about a week around labor day. Some 400 vintage tractors are usually on display, but not many of the "nicer than new" restored ones. Lots of old cars too. Some parts and a lot of good food!

When I show my tractors I let any one set on them,, I think it's good to share the feel of them..

Regarding Working Shows, I've not attended it yet, but everyone I know who has attended has raved about the Antique Engine & Tractor Assn Fall Working Show in Geneseo, IL (just east of the Quad Cities)
AETA Fall Working Show

FYI, I'm between Adams and Firth and go to Waverly and Sterling shows also. I would also highly recommend the Pioneer Power Show in LeSueur, MN. I've put the link to the club's website below.
Pioneer Power Show

Another good annual event is the Old Time Power Show in Cedar Falls, Iowa. A different Brand of tractor is featured each year and last year Steam Tractors were featured. Plenty of events take place each year including horse drawn farming, Steam tractors running sawmills and threshers, tractor pulls, and much more. Here is the link for information to this years show http://antiqueacres.org/prod/

I agree 100%, Dan. I've been there as a spectator and as a participant and it is one of the best shows around. Big enough to have a lot of things going on at the same time but not so big as to be unwieldy. Mike

Mike, I was negligent for not mentioning the "Poppin Johnnies Antique Harvest Show" held just north of Ottumwa, IA in the fall. You and others with the Poppin' Johnnies of S.E. Iowa and the Cobler family put on an amazing show with all kinds of fall harvest and plowing activities going on. I was there last year (see the link below for a photobucket link for a bunch of pictures), and was really surprised at all the diversity of things happening. It's a fairly small show, but it's free and you folks do a tremendous job.

Thank you for posting those pictures, Dan. Our show is not as large as some but it is a whole lot of fun and grows each year. Your pictures tell a nice story of the show. Thanks again for posting them. Mike

It is quite a ways, but well worth the trip.....your wife will definitely like the change of climate.
Florida Flywheelers Feb 18-21, they are featuring John Deere this year as well.
Their website is floridaflywheelers.org
This is one you definitely need to put on your bucket list.

I think there is a magazine (Farm Collector maybe?) that provides a list of shows all around the country.

Or maybe it's a separate publication available for an additional fee.

Memory isn't my greatest suit!!!

great photos posted by dan. Which items are yours Mike?

We have a show in Sept near Waseca, MN at Farmamerica, the Minnesota Agricultural Interpretive Center. Have you heard of Farmamerica? We are trying to get it more well known. There are SO MANY shows around the country that it is a big advertising job to get the word out for all of them.

I have wanted to attend the one at Ottumwa, but haven't made it yet. I like your way of letting people help rather than just watch.

I didn't have as many items at the show this year as I have had in years past due to being tremendously busy at home with harvest. The Kewanee elevator with Stanhoist wagon lift, the 620 with 227 picker and the rear wheel of my original working 70 are pictured. I should have more there next year including a 4010 with 237 picker and 50 sheller and possibly more. Mike
