4010 wiring harness

wanted to know if any one made a wiring harness to convert from 24 volt to 12 volt do i need new light switch new dash lights or what is the best to do

I have a complete 12 volt new wiring harness[newer opened] it is for a 72 4020D power shift but should work 515-290-4336 would ship.It would be a little different as the late 4020 were shut off by switch.Tim S. or Tx Jim will know if it would work.E-mail might work

If you want to convert your traactor to 12 volt, you don't need a new harness, but you do need a conversion kit.

There are several out there. I bought one from tractor parts ASAP- quite a bit cheaper than the one from deere, and had very clear directions.

Tim S would be the best one to ask as to which kit is the best value.

If the harness is good, just modify as needed for the conversion. I make my own harnesses if I need one way cheaper than buying one. Starter, alternator and relay I get from the local rebuilder as individual components. Switches and lamps can be re-used. 'Sometimes' have to change the fuel gauge but I try it first to see if it works. Not a difficult job if you have some electrical knowledge.

I agree that a wiring harness isn't required. I also think an Iskra starter & Delco alt. is cheaper than a kit. I'd advise to ad a relay to give more amperage to activate the yellow wire that attaches to the starter solenoid "S" terminal. Attach both blue & brown wires at starter solenoid to the top post on starter solenoid. IIRC you will need a new fuel gauge. There's a rebuilt starter in YT photo ads for $180 ad # 578740

Added relay from JD PN is RE164448 STARTER RELAY which is around $25
