My parents passed away in september. Daddy had 4 tractors. They belong to my three kids and my neice now. The R didn't have anti-freeze in it and didn't get drained. Something must have busted because some of the water leaked out. But I haven't had a chance it look at it. but I did drain the rest of the water out. Anyone have any idea how bad the damage might be. These tractors are for sale I think, except for a little massey fergison. There's a 4020 with a big tire flat on it, and an M john deere. I was just wondering if anyone else has had an R freeze.

I bought an R like that. Had a hole bottom center of the block. Weldor told me even with draining, some water may stay in and break block. PO had clamped rubber strip to hold water in. I had the hole welded shut. Was about thumb size.

Maybe you will get lucky and it had alcohol added in with the water and it did not freeze but evaporated ?
I know my uncle still ran alcohol in his R because antifreeze would seep out.
But if it did freeze you may have a disaster on your hands. Lots of expensive and hard to find parts on those.
Only thing you can do now is to get it in where it is warm and try filling it up with water and see if it runs and holds it in.

reddog71064,

How bad is the damage to the R?

How would someone find out if these are for sale or where they are?
