john deere 2030

2030's were good tractors. I don't remember any real problems. Check the steering mechanism for wear and hyd operation at operating temp. I'd also test coolant PH and check hyd for moisture. The gearshift boots have a history of cracking allowing moisture to enter trans & contaminate the oil.

Good utility tractors. Trouble spots to look for? Steering valves going bad (inside the steering column and very expensive). Balancing shafts and bearings in engine (can't fix with just an "in-frame" motor-job). Steel hydraulic pipes coming apart under the two transmission shifters. Inadequate sized hydraulic pump IF it has the little 1.38 cubic inch German pump. If it has the 2.4 cubic inch USA pump it's fine.

I have one and it's a good reliable tractor for me. If you are going to operate on hills, I'd recommend the ROPS, because you will not be able to jump off the way things are laid out. I added my factory ROPS later. I'll jinx myself for sure, but for a diesel it will start right up even if it's below zero with no supplemental heat. Built like a tank but as others have mentioned the steering can get a little sloppy.

Injection pumps were sometimes different. 2030s
sometimes used CAV pumps instead of Stanadyne like
the 2440.

(quoted from post at 22:44:39 01/25/15) Pro's and con's on a John Deere 2030, Thanks

iirc the 2030 and the later 2440 were pretty much identical except for the sheet metal.

I'm curious what makes you think a 2030 is "pretty much identical"to a late 2440 any more or less than an early model 2440? Please explain! I think 2030 is more like early 2440 because of their ages.
Thanks,Jim

Jim

Please enlighten me to each and every difference between a 2030 and a 2440

Since you're the one that brought this statement up in the 1st place how about YOU PROVIDE AN EXPLANATION FOR YOUR STATEMENT.

You are the one taking exception, prove why.

Why should I clarify an incorrect statement you made? You explain why you stated a late model 2440 is more like a 2030 when an early model 2440 was built in between the 2 models you mentioned.

So Cochise continue your "smoke screen" because you actually have not a clue what the answer is.
