So I found GP cutoffs.......Now tire size?

I found a really nice set of cutoffs for my 1931 GP standard but the tires are not good. The tires are 10-28 on a 10 inch by 28 inch rim. 11.2's seem like they will be small. How big of a tire can I put on them. The front tires are also bad. One has a 5.50-16 and the other is a 6.00-16. Which is better. I understand it is all a matter of opinion but I would like the tractor to set level when I am done.

Front tires check for sideway clearance, that is what you need to watch for, some wheels the way they were made with the rims you will have sidewall clearance for a 6:50 tire but other ways a 5:00 might want to rub the sidewall. Now for the rear I think and you can double check all arithmetic on the tire companys web sites and orignal wheel specifications from Deere. I believe the 11-12.4 x 28 will be more the height of the orignal steel rims. Some used a 13 x 24 or 12 x 26 to convert to as well. and all three sizes 11 x 28, 12 x 26 or 13 x 24 are same heigth but the 12 & 13 are wider for better pulling power. For the front without checking I would think the 6:00 on the front would be the same height as orignal steel at 28"

11.2x28 is the new designation for the old 10x28.
You can go 1 size larger without any problems. So on a 10" rim you can use an 11" tires which are 12.4x28.

I bought a GP on full round spokes that had 6.50 X 16 on the front and 12.4 X 24 on the rear, doesn't look right at all. I'm going to put 6.00 on the front and 14.9 on the rear. I have a 36 AR with this same setup and it looks good. I know you'd think 14.9 would be to big on a 8" wide rim but it fills the fender radius about right. This is what Harlan Wilson recommended to me for the GP rear.

Sorry reread your message and I see your rears are 28" so probably not going to help

You can use a lot smaller rim than what they say because that is just to get their measurements where they want them. Orignally a 13" wide tire would have been on a 8" rim and the 10:00 tire would now be a 14.9 or a 16.? tire as with them they measured the height of the tire, not the width. the 10:00 is not the same as a 10 or current 11.2 that a lot of people miss understand on. I wonder if those 10 that are on now are actually 10:00 tires as what would have been correct for a late 40's conversion to steel.
