I took my 4020 in to get a oil leak fixed and
the pto would not shut off about 400 hours ago.
It is now leaking running down the left side in
front of the filters. He put a used clutch pack
in and said that was the problem. When I picked
it up the pto still would not shut off. That
ended up a dowel pin in pto break (he had to split
it again). It has plugged the filters about
every 8 to 12 hours since then. It shifts fine
but last fall when it was 20 degrees it would kill
the motor if you put it in park for a few days and
that cleared up. I have changed the oil in the
rear end twice since then trying to clean the
system up but it doesn't help. The oil looks
silvery and I use john deere oil. I had no issues
with filters plugging until I had it worked on.
Could it be a bad clutch pack he installed?
