I am putting together an A&I wide front kit, the kit comes with 4 thrust washers, two for each side. I KNOW at least one of the thrust washers goes on the bottom of the spindle before it is inserted in the knee extension. Where does the other thrust washer go? Perhaps you stack them on top of each other on the bottom of the spindle?

You guessed it. They go back to back. One on top of the spindle and one on the bottom of the knee. There is a spring loaded dowell pin, one on the knee and one on the spindle that is supposed to keep each washer from turning freely. Hence the small hole in the washer. So when the wheels turn, the wear is contained between the two washers surfaces and not wearing on the knee or spindle. It's a good idea in theory, but I have seen those dowell pins get sheared off before and then everything turns and begins to wear.

It's a little tricky to try to stack them both on the spindle and keeping the holes and dowell pins aligned while inserting it. I have had better luck using grease to 'stick' the upper one in place while I wrestle the spindle back up the tube.

I put one of them together a few years ago, and I remember having the same question, because I don't recall only two rolls pins, instead of four. I'm wondering of A&I cheated a little there? Something about the steering arm was a tight fit also.
