John Deere Feature Show

Good Afternoon Everyone. Our local show, Clinton County Corn Festival, in Wilmington Ohio is featuring John Deere this year. This is our first time featuring one brand and is our 38th show all together. The dates are September 11-13, 2015, since we are new to the feature show I am taking suggestions on where we need to advertise, distribute flyers, and make connections to make this a success. Please let me know if you have any questions or suggestions and I hope to see some of you at the show.

I'm not familar with your show, but for years have exhibited at
the West Liberty,OH (Logan County) Fall Festival held over Labor
Day weekend.

Here are my opinions on "crowd getters":
parade thru town - anything that moves can march
softball games from leagues - brings families
school bands
flea markets
church food stands (whole congregation gets in on the act)
things that move - sawmill, threshing, pulls, dyno
no admission fee

Here is a little more background on our show, we hold the show at the county fairgrounds which gives us a nice grounds that has permanent buildings and facilities. There are 20+ food vendors at the show and they are all local nonprofit groups, churches, boy scouts, FFA, 4H, and other groups. Saturday morning at 10 we have a 2 mile parade thru downtown, all local groups are invited to participate usually have 2 marching bands and politicians. For demonstrations our club owns and operates a Fairbanks Morse 200 HP 4 Cylinder engine and a sawmill that are both in full operation the week of the show. We also have wheat threshing and a sawmill run by the steam engines. Friday Night and Saturday afternoon we have Tractor Pulls open to all members along with wagon backing, barrel push, obstacle course, slow race and crank start contests with the tractors. Also have several games open to the public, nail driving, skillet toss, pie eating, corn eating, and cross cut saw. Hope this helps give us some better ideas for drawing in a different crowd particularly John Deere tractors and equipment to make our first feature a success. We do charge $4 a day admission or $7 for a weekend pass. Thanks Again

do you still have the outhouse races on sat night.been there many yrs, still have many friends there, have a good time while visiting,an eat some applebutter too.

Let me get this straight do u have 2 sawmills one with steam n
one with the 200 hp engine as far as getting people in for the
feature tractor just offer free steak diners every night n u will
draw a huge crowd LOL

Yes we still have the Out House Races on Saturday night. We do have 2 sawmills, one is run by steam engines and the other is run by regular tractors. The 200 HP Fairbanks is in its own separate building, it was bought new and installed in a gravel pit to run the water pumps. The family the bought it new has loaned it to our club for permanent display.

One thing most shows forget it that unless you are local you do not know where the fairgrounds are or how to get there. Put a street address in flyer that will work with any driving direction on net site. Do not have GPS but street address is probably needed with those as well. What time is show normally over, when do tractors leave?

jCarroll, I may or may not know you as I have worked the West Libery show for quite a few years. Every year I am on back side of pulling track working line up as well as working signup for pull. Lester Helmlinger

If you live at 10622 __________ Rd, we both are on the Logan County Antique Power roster.

I'm not into pulling, so don't know if we've crossed paths.
