JD 60 can you identify part?

This is on the clutch handle pivot. Has JD logo on it and looks like casting# G787A. Any idea what it is for?

I have been told those were for a pull type plow that had something that hooked over there and when it came unhooked from tripping on a rock it would pop your clutch out.
Commonly referred to as a knee knocker !!!

That is the AXEL shaft for the casting that the trip chain hooks to for disengaging the hand clutch when plowing with a plow that has a cousin hitch that is designed to not come unhitched from the tractor when plow contacts an obstruction of one nature or another in the unplowed ground.

Hay: Dave & Jim; That part & the rest of the parts that mount on it and with it , is reason some old generation, German Farmers in Moltke township walk with a stiff right leg or have a cracked right knee cap... LOL...

Moltke township, not a common name. Is that the one in Sibley county, north of Gibbon? Haven't heard that name in almost 30 years.

I can be a reliable Witness to the PAIN the clutch handle of a Late Styled JD "B" can and will cause when you hit a rock using this set-up..
2nd gear was not too bad usually but hitting a rock in 3rd would really nail you..
At least the 60 has a longer clutch lever, so the Ball on the end will miss your knee cap..!!

Every time, you SWEAR (when you can utter some sounds other than curses) that it will NEVER happen again..!!

We generally plowed with our Rt leg hung over the rt side of the seat (for safety)..!

Everyone should share the pleasure of "Good Old fashioned" equipment and the Joys they provided..!!

Ron.

I know where you are coming from we had one on a 49 B saw Dad go right over the right side wheel and lay out in the ploughed ground after hitting a rock
