520 Pwr-Trol Seals

I'm ready to assemble a Pwr-Trol I'm working on but my notes seem to contradict the shop manual. I'm fairly certain the seals are supposed to be installed facing as I have the one pictured here. The manual says to install them with the seal lip facing the shift color which seems backwards to me.

It's been awhile but is that spot where you put 2 in place of an old THICK original seal ? If so the lips are to face opposite each other and pack the space in between with grease.

The parts manual shows two seals stacked...and that's what I took out. No mention in the manual of having them face different directions.

Both sides are exposed to oil. I would think the greatest pressure would be towards the pump gears which is how I have that one sitting.

I think on some of these pumps they use double seals to seal pressure from going out and maybe suction from sucking air in ?
You will have oil on both sides of that unit but on the gov. side not much oil up in there anyhow.
