I bought a 2010 several years ago with a lot of issues. The fuel tank was full of rust, the distributer housing is cracked and the cap wont sit on it correctly, the clutch slipped (I already replaced it) and after constantly trying to fix it I finally gave up on it. Well after starring at it for 3 years I have decided to do something with it. Im getting a new fuel tank made because I could not get the rust out of it due to baffle in the front. I found a local fab shop that make me a new tank for fairly reasonable. I am going to rebuild the carburetor and get a new distributer. I found some remand ones prestolite and delco ramey, mine is a prestolite but the delco is quite a bit cheaper. They appear to have the same shafts. Are they interchangeable? It would be great to be able to use the cheaper one. Thanks

Thanks. I figured they would. From what ive heard from others these were very problematic tractors since they were made. Anyone had any experiancewith them

I had one for 25 years, It was no worse than other tractors. All old tractors need work from time to time if you use them hard.

I'll encourge you, go for it. Had a Farmall sitting behind the barn, 15 years or more, covered in tarps. Boys said Pop either scrap it or fix it, but do something. I found out it would actually run, sandblasted, scraped, primered, painted and etc. etc. etc., she's a beauty, I enter all the Christmas parades I can get to. She sits inside now, shiny and glistens. Much better,

Yes,delco remy is a good choice, as parts for them are readily available. You can go on line @ JD parts Catalog and search for 2010 to see the complete parts break down for your tractor.

Thank you all for your help. I need another tractor to rake and mow hay. I figured this ol jd would do just fine to pull a NH 256 hay rake and 451 mower.

I have a 2010 row crop utility, and it is the
handiest thing for many jobs. I grow produce and
sweetcorn and a little hay, and I would not trade it
for many. I had the cylinders bored out(deck plate
and all) and put in new pistons after it lost some
compression in one cylinder and wouldn't run right.
Put electronic ignition and a alternator on it and
it has started and ran good since.
