12V Nippon-Denso starter relay location 4020

My old delco 12V starter (the 68 model 4020 was converted to 12V years ago) finally laid down the other day and I decided to replace it with the heavier built Nippon-Denso starter. I got the reman starter (it's a direct drive with the JD tag on the housing) from the local shop the other day. To my dismay, it wouldn't work at all when hooked up.
I came to learn that while my delco operated fine without a relay switch, the Nippon-Denso will not work without one.

I bought at relay (same one used on mid-80's ford pickups) at NAPA this morning. My question is where an ideal place to neatly mount it? By the way, I plan on using 10 gauge primary automotive wire between the large terminal where the battery cables attach on the starter solenoid; will this be ample to get the job done?

Any ideas would be great!

I put them under the cowl on the left side, I drill and tap 2 1/4" holes into the frame and dun my wires up from the starter.

I put them on the kick panel where the switches are.
10 ga will be OK. Use it on both in and out relay poles.

Here is how I have mine.

The silver one powers the whole tractor and the brown one is the starting solenoid. Just there on the left side above the clutch pedal. I have cleaned the wire layout up a bit since then but you get the idea. I put the high amp fuse there so I could get to it in case it blows.

I made a little bracket to so it's behind the side shield and still easily accessible. It's on a 4010, that I just converted to 12V before Christmas. Thanks to Tim S, B&D and Tx Jim, for all of the old archived posts.

You're welcome. Very nice looking 24V to 12V conversion with ample size battery cables. How well does your 4010 start in Ontario Winter on 12 volts?

Thanks Jim. It's starting good, but I rarely start it without the block heater plugged in for a half hour or so. I only need to get the fuel gauge and sender changed over now. I put a Delco 10si alternator on as well. It's nice not to get the battery charger out every time I go to use it. Thanks, Mark.
