HENRY loader on 440i

went and looked at the 440 and it appears to have an henry loader on it. Been sitting a little to long and the direction reverser handle won't move and it needs a ring gear (came loose from flywheel!) Is the reverser expensive to rebuild? can I eliminate it without a problem? and 440 experts out there want to weight in? thanks Pat

Reversers are valuable, and add to the value of the tractor in my opinion. Why would the handle being seized effect the reverser? Free up the pivot, then see if there is snap in the reverser clutches. The clutches can be adjusted. Unless the clutches are completely jiggered, it should be OK. See if there is oil in the reverser housing (and not a whole lot of water) and go from there.

Reverser can be bypassed. I have heard of it being done but don't know what all was involved ? Likely getting the parts from a non reverser machine.
We had a 440IC and the reverser worked fine and was really the only thing that didn't need rebuilt ! So they must be pretty tough ?
