AR gasket

I am working on a 43 John Deere AR. when i removed exhaust pipe from manifold I noticed the remains of a gasket, however i can not find a gasket listed in the parts book. there is for later models but it doesnt fit. does anyone know if a gasket went on this year AR? serial numer 26229

You are correct, the parts book doesn't show a gasket for the AR. Previous owner may have cut one from a sheet of asbestos back in the day, or attempted to make the one for the Unstyled A work. You could put a bead of Hi-Temp silicone on the mating surface if you wanted.

I used a donut from a car. like you do when you attach a exhaust pipe to your exhaust manifold

The AR uses a flat mounting surface , manifold to exhaust pipe.No way to use a auto donut.
