JD3020 lights

I have a problem with my lights and need some help in troubeshooting. When the switch is turned on the outside right lamp comes on at the first stop. At the second click the outside right stays on and the other three light very dim with only a slight glow. This does the same for all the rest turns of the switch. Does this seem like a switch issue or something else? The lamps are all good as I checked them on a battery separately and all work. Thanks for any help.

Is electrical system on tractor 12 or 24 volts? I suggest to check light housing and fender to axle housing for good continuity.

24 volt. I have wondered if the cause may be the ground.

On a different color good old tractor, I had the similar issue, in my case the ground was back through all the old rusty old frame joints. Eliminated that, ran separeate green ground wires, voila', fixed, very bright lights now.

Is the small wire from rear LH battery post to frame in good condition and making good connections on both ends??

I agree with you that if the tractor in question isn't going to be a "restored,trailer queen" I'd recommend to change it from 24 volts to 12 volts in a heartbeat. :wink:
