4010 wide front

Hi guys, there is a 4010 coming up at an auction this week with a narrow front. I might jump in and bid if it starts reasonable. If I were to buy it I would want to put a wide front on it. How hard are they to come by, how much for a good one with no welds, what other model wide fronts will fit a 4010? Just want to see what my options are, I don't have any green tractors, but I would like to add this one to my herd of red and blue.

They bring around $1500 at most salvage yards, and a lot of modles use the same one , 3010,4010,3020,4020,4320

TimS's price is spot on. Just attended an auction where a wide front for a 4020 sold. I believe it sold for $1500 or $1550 (I was shocked)

JD used the same front for many years and the 4320 was largest tractor it came on.Many used ones have been broken and worn badly so best to get a good one.A&I has one made in Canada that has a heavier main piece. The spindels, knees and main frame have all been known to break with heavy loader use or abuse.I just bought a nice one off a 72 4320 for $1000 and bought a new A&I from someone who needed cash for $900 but usually they bring from $600 worn to $1500 as Tim stated.

In addition to other's input, The narrow front has some value. You may be able to trade it with cash to boot for a wide front. Better than letting it rust in the corner of the shed. It should sell for $100-450, depending on condition, what you leave on it (hubs, tires and rims), and what style it is (ROM, non-ROM)

I took a schwartz off a 4010 to mount a 4030 wide front. I paid $1500 with adapter plate and hubs in 2010. I would have been fine with the aftermarket wide front if it weren't for the FM cultivator I use in the spring. The 30 series front ends are much nicer than the 20 series.

Larry: There is a fair amount of diff.'s in the original 3010-4010 JD wide front & the 71" 72" wide fronts used on 4320's ; There were 3 diff. center casting, Original casting# marked# R27280, 1st. pics... Second casting made about 68" same marked# R27280, built 1/2" thicker metal a weak break point, 69"-70" casting same but Marked# R42851 or R47735 or 36 [Top & bottom knee slot,2 bolts,].. , & 71"-72" casting Marked# R51305.. Thicker heavier ,1 slot, 1 bolt.. Aftermarket front same casting [no casting#] as last 71-72 but softer metal in casting , I've not had good luck with them.... Last pic early 4010 front Welded...
