6850 chopper

I have a friend looking at a J D 6850 chopper.Was wondering if there was anything bad about these machines that he should be aware of. Lloyd

Built 1998-2003. 12.5L six cylinder with 400+ HP.
Depends if it is used and taken care of or abused.

The 6000 series had quite a few bad cutterheads that had faulty welding. Most of them should have let go by now if they are going to. We had a 6650 that did it and was upgraded and a neighbor had their's do the same.

I agree with buick and deere they are a very capable machine we have a 6750 and it has done a good job for us only real problem has been an issue with shear bar adjustment but dealer took care of that in quick order
