John Deere Hydraulic Cylinder Issue - Picture

I have a header lift cylinder from a John Deere 2280 swather that needs the seals replaced. According to the diagram on the John Deere parts website, there is a snap ring that holds the assembly together. It is supposed to be between the cylinder tube and the threaded insert but I cannot see one down in there. This is a welded cylinder so it is coming apart from the end only. Anyone familiar with dis-assembling this type of cylinder?

Push threaded part down into barrel. May have to use punch get past end of barrel. About 1/2 in down will be the wire ring. I rebuild cyls for living so there isn't much that I haven't seen and there is some strange ones out there.
