reusing a unstyled A head gasket

Has anybody reused a head gasket ? I have an
unstyled A that has a heisler head and want to put
the stock one back on it . Did not see much gain in
hp and I could possibly sell it . It hasn't been on
there that long and was an $80+ dollar john deere
gasket when new . Well there now over a hundred and
I don't need anymore partial gasket sets sitting
around . If removed carefully , cleaned , copper
coated and tourqued it would hold . I have about 2
or 3 laying around from all my A's over the years .
Maybe I dumb idea but there not as cheep as the
later styled head gasket . Thanks Mark

The one in my G puller has been off and on 5 times. A friends A has been reused 6 times. Just clean all the old sealer off and spray the head, block and both sides of the gasket with copper coat and your good to go.

I would consider it if the head/block were the same and it was a one piece steel. I would be concerned it using a different head that the gasket would be compressed differently by changing these variables. I would never reuse a composite gasket with crimp around cylinder surfaces.

I have checked with my neighbor a Napa owner they don't have them for ser# 488000 and under . The newer ones they do for like 36 dollars . I do see the point about the head and block not being the same . Ha one of these on the shelf is from before the heisler was installed . It's not like it's that big of a job to redo it if I had to .
