Injection pump rebuild

Had my 9400 combine quit on me harvesting this year and it
turned out to be the shaft twisting off in the injection pump.
3300 bucks later its running with new injectors also. I had a
local guy r&are for me due to day job but the price just for
pump rebuild was 2100 with a new head. Asked about price to
have 3020 pump done and he quoted between 800-1500. Am I
crazy or is this way to high.

Depends on what getting a pump "done' means. Many of the pumps that crap out on Deere engines like a 3020 only need and get $50 in new parts when they leave the shop as "rebuilt." 2-3 hour's work and $50 in parts can be had for $300-$400 from the right person or shop.

Now if you have a pump with a broken driveshaft and seized head & rotor - cost can easily run over $1000.

I had my 4020 pump rebuilt this summer,it was 604.00 at Desmoines diesel and it was done in 2days
