I have a chance to buy a John Deere B (don't know what year yet) that runs but has a busted carb. He's asking $800 Is that a steal or should I keep looking? Thanks!

From what I've seen in the last few months
that's probably to high.I've seen some nice old
B's sell for 500 to 800.Those old common tractors
have been dropping off in price.Seen nice restored
ones for 1200 to 1800.

Check what it will cost to get a carb or that one restored. How do you know it runs? I bought an A that looked nice and was running but haveing trouble getting it started now, (the sellers words). Its the worst thing I have bought, and is costing a lot, 50 here, 100 there. On the other hand I bought a really ugly B with no hope it would run and two new plugs and it fired right up. Check it out and its still takeing a chance.
