john deere 7220 won't start

I have John deere7220. A couple days ago I tried starting the tractor when it was about 5 degrees out. It was a last minute thing so I did not plug it in. The tractor fired once and quit. I put a nipco on it to heat it up and the tractor still would not fire so I put it in the heated shop for a couple days and it still won't fire. It has never done this for me before. Any idea on what it could be. I tried bleeding the fuels lines just in case it got some air in them. Thanks in advance

They are a pain in the rear to bleed. We have had to do ours a couple times. I haven't really found out the key to it yet. It seems like if you mess with it enough it will eventually get the air out and start.

I have changed a lot of fuel lines on those, seems like the lines that have the fiber coating get little holes in them, through out the line..

Is there a good replacement for the fuel lines? I took out the little brass restricter out of one of the lines when I replaced it one time on my 7220. I had trouble with it starting after that. I put it back in and have never had any starting problems since.

Hi
A description of it fired once and won't again
and bled the lines is a bit open ended for us
guessing here sadly. do you have any fuel at
the injectors at all, or have you tried
cranking with a line or 2 slack at the
injectors to see if it fires. i jot an MF combine here
needs lines slack to bleed the pump until it starts if it runs
out of fuel or plugs and stops.

Most of those newer Deeres i have driven, have
a key stop control for the motor instead of a
cable like older models. could it be something
to do with the stop solenoid on the fuel pump
not working due to bad soleniod switch or
wiring/ lack of current some place, and the
cold was just a coincidence ?.
Regards Robert

I wonder if adding an electric fuel pump in the line from the tank would pressurize the system and force the air out?
Some of the high mileage VW diesels would wear and not move enough low pressure fuel when cranking. To supply the high pressure element. Some owners added a low pressure electric fuel pump and end of problem.

Thanks for the input. I will try to bleed the lines again. The tractor only has 900 hours on it. Minnesota winter weather sure seems to be hard on machinery.

My 7220 does have an electric fuel pump mounted behind the
frame. They were designed to prime the fuel system
automatically, but the poor fuel lines let air into the system or it
is just a poor design. I had a lot of trouble with mine running
on four cylinders of the six when it was new. Dealer replaced
injectors and injector pump. One other thing to check is the
fuel cap. The fuel tank is only vented through the cap. I have
replaced mine once.

the 6000 and 7000 20 series ie 7220 has a fuel pump in side the engine frame rail the first one used one pump later serial number used as up dated pump with by pass that could be your problem to bleed fuel to pump you turn key on it well self bleed that is if all is ok with pump fuel lines the pump draw it fuel through the first filter then pushes it through second filter to cooler and imjuction pump what happen is the pump can push fuel but cant suck it through the first filter i seen that be a problem with line from tank to filter or from filter to pump being bad my suggestion is to change the fuel line and if the lift pump has not been change change it to new updated one
