had the carb on my 43 AR rebuilt. the folks who rebuilt it did a
nice job. carb was cleaned, blasted etc. it was not painted
which i like. does anyone know of something i can put on it to
keep it from rusting etc? i live in nc and rust is a big problem.

You can also try the Parkerizing process-sort of like the bluing on gun barrels. This turns a dark gray when finished and is rust resistant. Here's a link that explains it and the "recipe." Read all the way through, because the end has more info than the beginning.

I watched a video on rebuilding carbs by Roberts carb repair. He used some type of chemical you could dip the carb in that would etch the cast iron and help prevent it from rusting as fast. There's a few steps involved of dipping it and rinsing it off but he said it worked well, I just can't remember how long he said it'd go until it would start to rust.
