I went to town and got a compression tester. Both cylinders tested a little over 90 psi.My service book says a new engine should be 110.Is 90 good enough? Thanks Tom

90 and even is probably ok for something that hasn't run in three years.

Are you certain the wires did not get reversed????

If that is ok, you should certainly try pull starting it, as someone else suggested.

You mentioned you are getting spark THROUGH the plug wires. Are you sure you are getting spark THROUGH the plugs? Some plugs are duds when new out of the box, especially the brand that starts with "C". They will not fire under compression. If everything else checks out try that. Mike

Have you tried pulling the plugs out and winding it over to get rid of the excess fuel. I have a late B that has petcocks on the bottom, after it sat in a shed since spring it wouldn't start. I opened the petcocks and cranked it over. It blew extra fuel out because I had been choking the heck out of it. Then it popped right off.

Sometimes plugs will fire like that but not fire under compression. Had it happen several times. Wouldn't hurt to try a couple more if all else is ok. Mike

I never used to believe all that about C---ion plugs, but since I switched to Autolites, and I stopped torquing them in like Grade-8 bolts, I have never had a problem.
