First off I know the 2840 is everyone's least liked tractor, I get that, hopefully we can bypass all the hate posts. Anyways.... I'm looking for the part number for the kit to plumb a loader into the hydraulics on the side of the transmission. Also was there a part number for the fitting on the SCV valve to plumb a 3/4 line to the filter cover? Thank you for the help.

Since when, or where, is the 2840 a "hated tractor?"

We had several customers who had them and we had no more problems with them as with any other Dubuque twin-stick tractor with a 300 series engine.

We has cold starting issues with ALL new 40 series tractors but those were later fixed by Deere with upgrades.

jdemaris- what were the upgrades? I have a 2840 that don't want to start when it is cool much less when it is cold. I am thinking a block heater?.

Two simple things you can do to help slow starting is install/use a hyd pump destroking screw(parts key 6) and relocate battery ground cable from battery box to starter mounting bolt.

We assume that the loader's joystick will be supplied from a dedicated fitting on the high pressure line. T'd in just prior to the scv supply? And the loader oil will return via a dedicated ported transmission oil filter ?

When at the dealership pickup one of these thingamajigs. They can make a world of difference with winter starting. Works better than the old steering wheel jiggle and it doesn't make the driver look foolish flailing away on the steering wheel.

When the 40 series first came out new - Deere tried several things to improve cold starting including yanking the heads off and changing the valve-head-depth, injection pump timing, thinner head gaskets, etc. Ends up the big fix was new pistons with a higher top piston-ring groove. All the new replacement parts when rebuilding the engine automatically upgrade it.

Cranking speed is of course important also - but wasn't a problem with new ag tractors. When they do develop slow cranking issues - and premature starter failures - a pump destroker is the easy fix.
