I have come across a real nice Pup motor 830. What do you all recommend for a 6-volt battery? Should I go to John Deere or do the NAPA/Bumper to Bumper stuff hold up as good. Also what series of battery is it and cranking amp?. I looked at the parts manual and didn't see a part number listed.

(quoted from post at 08:53:42 11/23/14) Make sure you have 2 awg cables and they are in good shape.

2 awg is pretty small. What you want is 00 awg or 2/0 as it is sometimes called. Spend the extra money and get welders cable. Finer stranded wire and much easier to flex and bend into place.
As far as batteries go, the standard 6 volt is a Group 1. If you have the room, you might be able to squeeze in a Group 4. Those have 850 cca to 975 cca depending whose battery you buy.
