After several false starts, it appears the museum will finally open on December 2, 2014. Site work on the parking lots wrapped up a few weeks ago. I drove by last night and took a couple of shots. For those who don't know, it is located at the original Tractor Works in Waterloo. Highway signs are posted that will lead you to the location. Admission is $8 for adults and $4 for seniors.

This is the front of the museum facing south.

This is the north side - Looks like they've got a little problem with the lighted sign on this side. "JOHN DEERE T_ACTOR & ENGINE _USEUM"

They probably got the lights from one of those little towns in China,,same place that a lot of their electric components come from...

Dan - thanks for the long awaited news! However, it's not that $4.00 will keep many of we seniors away nor will it break us nor cause us to go hungry, but I'm disappointed to learn there's an admission charge. There was no charge for Deere's similar operation in Moline. I'd suggest that the ill-will Deere gains by charging an entrance fee will outweigh the revenues gleaned by having the fee. - Leon

Leon, time will tell about any fallout regarding the admission fee. I don't mind paying a nominal fee just like other museums charge - but I do have a problem with paying an admission fee and then be confronted with self-glorifying advertising. From the Tractor and Engine Museum website (link below), one of the four "current exhibits" is something called "Into the World - Experience how John Deere tractors and engines help people do their work today". That exhibit sounds more like advertising than something pertaining to John Deere history and antique products...
