Set crank back lash or not on 1941 A

I have a 1941 JD A that I restored 20 years ago. I have used it about 5 to 10 hours per year planting and cultivating sweetcorn. Since the cold weather has set in, I have been cleaning and fixing minor things on it. I have noticed that I am cleaning allot more grease and grime around and on the flywheel side of the tractor. I suspect it is from oil slinging from the flywheel oil slinger seal. I checked and found that there is .020 back lash on the flywheel. (side to side) I think it is supposed to be .010. Is it worth the trouble to reset the back lash on the fly wheel? Do those old slinger seals throw a little oil anyway?

Time to remove the flywheel and install a new seal. Part# B130R, then set the end-play
on the crankshaft.

It's only going to get worse.......so replace seal, set end play of crankshaft and install new GRADE 8 bolts in flywheel and torque to JD specifications.

The seal p/n Mark gave you is for a Model B. The p/n for your Model A is D2124R. It's available from Deere for about $7.00.
The crank end play should be set at 0.005 to 0.010
