Going to paint my 830: Any thoughts on what a guy might have to pay to have the sheet metal painted professionally? Thanks.

Depending on the condition and how much of the sheetmetal you plan on getting done, like nose, hood, fenders etc. I would say you could spend over $1500 pretty quick.

Friend of mine is in process of painting my 830. 250 a gallon
for paint and he says it is going to take 2 gallon. Right now he
is looking at 1000 in material maybe 1500. Fenders needed
the most work on mine.

A friend here is an Artist and says he has 50 Gallons of JD Green he did not use..

Bet it will be a Bargain..I have a couple gallons and it sure looks good, like "Classic Green"..

Where are you located ? It's not so much the paint or painting that costs the time ($$$) it's the surface prep to get the old sheetmetal to a point where smooth glossy paint will look it's best and not just magnify flaws left. There's no way to give a cost without seeing , unless one puts it so high it will allow for anything. In my retirement I wouldn't mind doing some (sheetmetal only) jobs. The rest can be done by brush by owner and come out pretty good. I would just as soon not have to deal with the rest of the tractor anyway. I'm in central MI tho. I am pretty selective about the condition of what I take on. I don't mind telling one when he needs to look for replacement parts as apposed to trying to repair a junk piece. Assuming this is an 830 2cyl JD there's no way it's going to take 2 gallons to do the sheet metal. My e-mail is open if you have more questions. RB
