JOHN DEERE 8630 NO HYDRAULICS

ok im back from the farm, and to let you friends know the pump is totally brand new but came in pieces because john deere sells them that way, about 2400.00 for all too,i put it on tractor, and nothing is good, still the same trouble, all hydraulics dead in the water, and I talked to tim briefly who was going to look at a couple more things that could be going on,havent heard back from him yet,but in case there is a problem in clutch pto housing,i pulled out 120 gallons of diesel, and removed left tank and found that mine has the hole cutout to see the housing ,but I haven't removed nothing from there yet,the one thing I can look at once I get the housing off is the pump gear which in a way im hoping it has a sheared key way although there is some forward and reverse slack in the drive gear,it may have slack to begin with, but id like to make sure its only gear teeth slack, and so far this is what happens,
with tractor running,i can pull gear lever toward 2 range with no clutch, and it tries to move, and does move a little, but then when I apply clutch, the movement is gone once I put it in gear with the clutch in,and the top u joint drive quits tyrning too, thats what I get so far with this new pump, still no steering,or gears that work,no 3 point, and no raise and lower disc,.thanks for all help you all have tried with this problem, but now im into the next chapter, thanks and send more help friends, thanks

Francis, I believe you have the factory shop manual, and as has been posted before, there is a VERY detailed hydraulic troubleshooting procedure that should narrow this down.

Check the clutch pump pressure to see if has ANY and if it varies with the 2-speed in hi or lo, and the foot clutch depressed or not.

PTO on or off, as well.

Also, is the front end "dry sump" still full of oil/not being returned to the rear?

Did you find the photo in the shop manual that shows the pump drive gear viewed through the valve mounting hole in the clutch housing showing the drive gear and the "dry sump" pickup tube plugged into the front of the pump?

ok bob,i didn't look inside if oil is built up again yet,but I haven't pulled anything loose yet again to be able to see if theres oil in front, but I did put 5 gallons into it before I put in new pump in case it would need prime or something,i don't have no gauges either to check it,might see if jd could go by this week while im down here at home,i did look at the manual that shows direction of flows too, hang on gotta look at another pic

yes theres 2 lines plugged into pump,i guided and made sure I felt them each slide into place, and then the drive shaft, thats where im at for now till next week, but tank is off of left side, and there is a hole cut in the area of the housing too,,and that's why im thinking john deere wanted to pull the cab now,to get some kind of reading,i think, because theres nothing to fix as far as cab being in the way

NOT to be critical, but I will NOT tear anything like this apart or start buying parts 'til I isolate the problem, and you HAVE to have a gauge or two and the factory manual to do that.

I just wished I didn't have to be doing this right now,and I don't feel like tearing that apart,im going to see if the john deere guy will come check it out again but ill have to put fuel back into the right tank because I pumped it all the way down Saturday to give him something to run it on,i didn't get an inside measurement on hose before I left, does anyone know it off hand so I can pick up a plug or something to put in connector hose for now?gee I wish the problem would just tell me where it is,would make things easier I guess,i was hoping the new pump would cure the problem, but now at least I got a brand new pump in the clutch area,

also before hooking pump back in I blew air into lines that were unhooked all over to get things cleared up nice but not too much pressure, the screens were all cleaned out too about 3 weeks ago or so,the one in front sump was a little dirty and that's where I found the oil hiding at to start with, just wish this would start working on its own or whatever comes from this,i just don't have all the time to get it done on the weekends,
