6414 power unit - coolant in water

I have a 6414 engine on an irrigation pump purchased new in the late 1980's. Present hours are about 3,500. Last spring we found a couple ounces of coolant in the oil. We set it up but didn't irrigate this season. After a few weeks we checked it again and there was no coolant in the oil. It has had regular oil and coolant changes over the years and has been an excellent runner. It must run in a dry year without a hassle so I'm attempting to diagnose the problem here in low season. Is there any way to determine if it's liner seals or maybe the oil cooler? I was thinking pull the oil pan and pressurize the cooling system. Thanks in advance.

Yes you can pull pan and pressurize the cooling system. Also look for pin holes in cylinder liners. It appears the oil cooler should be simple to by-pass.
