Bought a brass float and nozzle spring and part 2 rebuilding dvd from Roberts. Nozzle was so full of rust after 70 years I'm surprised it would run. Put carb on this morning still need to fine tune a little. Amazing how many people will look at you with a big smile on their face and wave when I went on a test drive. Just want to pass along a big thank you for the advice I got from this site.

That DVD is worth it's weight in gold. I had the VHS version first, but time goes on and my memory slows, so I got the DVD so I can refresh my memory from time to time.

One thing they don't address in that video is the little "trough" that the throttle blade wears in the bottom of the throat. Even with new bushings/blade/shaft , this will let it suck air instead of fuel through the idle ports. I use epoxy to fill them and it , along with shaping the ends of the bushings to fit the curvature of the bore , will make for a perfect air tight fit and perfect idle.

I should have said that I completely went through the carb cleaned all passages, new throttle shaft, bushings, needle and seat, throttle disc.made a new control rod. would like to hook up my Letz burr mill to it to put a load on it.

You are right on about the satisfaction that comes from getting a 60-70 yr old tractor to run like new again. Especially a JD 2 cyl. as they seem to let every bystander know when they aren't running right. Good job.
