I always enjoy seeing photos people post, so I thought I would post some of my own. Wheat stubble with an oat cover crop. Steven

Nice,, you don't see anything 'Green' plowed under much anymore. Years ago back in the 70's some would have a 12 volt seeder on the bonnet of the combine and a place to keep 6 or 8 bags of Rye, and reseed Rye as they harvested corn,,having the seeded wired to come on with the header, I always thought it was a great idea..

Love them styled "D",s. Must be late '40,s maybe? Have never seen a trip lift plow with a solid square beam like that tho ?? Nice pics. RB

Looks like the old D, the plow, and you are getting it done, but after the plowing is done you and the old D are gonna have spend quite a few hours with a disk and then a cultipacker and field cultivator or springtooth fitting that field down to planting condition. That's the way we usta do it though.....

THere are cover crops grown in my neighborhood, but usually the are killed by frost or round-up.

What kind of seeder did they use? I've been tempted to mount one on the corn chopper. Usually the guy running the chopper has enough to worry about, though.

Back then they were using 4 row heads so one of those 12 volt seeders worked out ok,, now with 8's and 12's it won't work out

Neat pictures, good job plowing. Not much fall plowing done around here, not much plowing at all either. My '48 D and 3-16 #55H plow is a pretty well matched combination. There's nothing that sounds quite like an old D pulling hard, carb locked wide open and muffler glowing red at night.
