John Deere Model 70 Pony motor flywheel removal.

How to remove the flywheel on the pony motor of a John Deere model 70 tractor? Pull the motor or pull the engaging clutch. I need to replace the ring gear. Not wanting to pull the main engine flywheel to get to the engaging mechanism.

You'll need to pull the engine/transmission from the tractor as one unit. Set it on a bench and separate the tranny from the engine, remove the clutch and pressure plate to get to the nut that holds the flywheel to the end of the crankshaft. Probably an all day job if you're working by yourself and haven't done it before.
