This is a PITA... Neighbor said the float sticks, even after it was "rebuilt" a couple years ago (with low use). I took it off, took it apart, cleaned everything throughly. I checked the float (it does), checked the needle and seat (clean and shiny), and hinge pin (polished). Reassembled and checked it on the bench and it seemed ok, e.g.: I can't blow through the inlet with the carb upside down, but can when 'up', and I can hear the float 'bounce' when lightly shaken, so it isn't sticking on the bowl somewhere. Tank has been cleaned, tank-lined and has fresh clean gas.
Put it on, started it, turned it off and it seemed to hold. Put it to work for about 10 minutes, turned it off, and the gas just ran out of it. Let it sit for about 20 minutes, turned the fuel back on, started it immediately and promptly shut it off, and still dripping, but not as bad. Used it later and forgot to turn the fuel off, and it wasn't dripping at all. And no, it wasn't out of gas.
I'd say it needs a new carb, but it isn't in the budget. Anyone else think of something I've missed?
