49 A Platform removal

Anyone have any tricks to remove the 2 screws that hold the platform down on an A I have been using a hammer drive, tried soaking them with deep creep for several days with no change tonight I tried using the torch 1st heating the plate around the screws and then the screws themselves. I would like to replace the battery cable while I have the starter out.
Thanks

I heat them red hot with MAPP gas and then chisel the heads off. There's usually enough bolt showing when the platform is removed to get a vise grip or small pipe wrench on to turn them out. They're normally easy to turn out after the head is removed.

Soaked the ones on my 48 B for a couple weeks with sea
foam deep creep. I was able to remove them with a large
screwdriver. Got lucky I guess.

After all else failed, I have used an air chisel with the punch accessory to get those countersunk fasteners out. They can be a booger to get loose. I was gonna weld a big nut to them if the air chisel failed.

Heat the head of the screw red hot and let it cool then try it. Weld a nut to the head of the screw, then wait till it's not red any more and loosen it.

An air hammer with a blunt pointed punch installed. Go in the direction to remove (lefty loosey) and it works wonders on them. I have found countersunk head allen bolts to replace them with and then fill the allen holes with silicone to seal them up so as to stay in good shape for later removal.
